Your next career opportunity
As a Research Fellow/Senior Research Fellow at the Disability and Health Unit, you'll contribute to groundbreaking research aimed at improving the health of people with disabilities. You'll have the opportunity to work on major projects like CRE-AHEAD and RAY, analysing complex datasets and shaping policies. Your work will directly impact the lives of people with disabilities, advancing their health and wellbeing through evidence-based research and policy reform. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead Quantitative Research: Design and conduct analyses using large, complex datasets like PLIDA and HILDA to address key research questions.
  • Produce High-Quality Publications: Author peer-reviewed papers, reports, and policy briefs to disseminate research findings.
  • Secure Research Funding: Lead and contribute to writing competitive grant proposals and funding applications.
  • Mentor and Supervise: Guide Honours, Masters, and PhD students, as well as early career researchers.
  • Collaborate and Communicate: Work with multidisciplinary teams and present findings to diverse stakeholders.

You may be a great fit if:

You are a skilled quantitative social scientist with a PhD in a relevant field, demonstrating advanced analytical abilities, a strong publication record, and a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for people with disabilities through inclusive, collaborative research.

You may also:

  • Possess advanced skills in statistical analysis and software (e.g., Stata or R).
  • Have experience with causally focused epidemiological or econometric methods.
  • Demonstrate a track record of attracting research funding.
  • Show commitment to disability-inclusive research practices.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Possess experience or capacity to supervise postgraduate students.
  • Have lived experience as a person with a disability (desirable).
  • Understand Australian disability policy (desirable).
